Restart, reset, refocus...
Here's my 3 favorite ways to prep for the year ahead:
Intentions - write out your intentions for the upcoming year
One Word - pick one word that encapsulates your intentions for the year
Vision board - create a digital vision board using your intentions and One Word
1. Set intentions - reflect and journal - look back at this past year and take in the lessons, mistakes, failures, accomplishments, wins, and miracles that happened over the year. Ask yourself, what do I want? And what am I willing to do to get what I want? Write out your answers and use the reflections & answers to guide you in choosing your One Word for the new year. Now, set your intentions.

Everything happens on a mental level before it manifests on the physical level. This is why it's so important to get your mindset right. You have to believe in yourself no matter what the external circumstances are. Strengthen your vision and have hope that things can get better. ~ averstu
It's all about mindset. From the moment you wake up, to the moment you rest your head at night. Everything is up to you. Your emotions, your thoughts, your perceptions, your reactions. Every moment.

2. Choosing One Word - Every year for the past 12 years, I choose One Word at the beginning of the year, that will set the tone for every intention, habit, routine, mindset and thought for the year.
Choosing One Word each year rather than a list of goals completely changed my mindset from one of seeking perfection at all costs in order to achieve my goals, to intentional focus on my One Word. I created healthy ways to incorporate my One Word into my yearly plan and began thriving much more than I ever did when I was solely focused on achieving my goals.
I used to set goals every year, and like so many of us, goal setting became overwhelming and unfruitful for me, instead of feeling motivated I would feel, defeated and unworthy of succeeding. So when I attended an annual women's brunch hosted by one of my besties church in 2013, the theme of the brunch was One Word, it forever changed the way I planned out my New Year.
So that year way back in 2013, I literally took a leap of faith, and dropped all formal goal setting and chose just One Word, and have ever since. This past years word was Embody, a few of my other past words have been flow, strive, balance, believe, flourish, and clarity just to name a few.
When I first started I began to incorporate my One Word into my daily routines and habits, finding ways to flow, strive, balance, believe, and flourish more each year
Selecting One Word for the year is a powerful way to focus your intentions, clarify your goals, and create a guiding principle for the next 12 months

Trust me when I say there is power & magic in this trifecta of setting intentions, choosing One Word & creating a Vision board each new year. I've been doing it for over 10 years, and it's completely changed my perspective on setting New Years Eve resolutions and goals. I've learned that focusing on setting intentions, one word and a vision board, sets the tone for the year, and is far more powerful than simply writing down a few resolutions and goals.
When I focus on my intentions, I'm much more successful at accomplishing what I set out to achieve.
Try it this year and see for yourself!
